In Islamic sources, recitation of the Holy Qur’an has consistently been emphasized because of its profound and constructive effects on human life in both this world and the hereafter, and it has been regarded as one of the most important means of promoting Islamic teachings and culture. Religious scholars, each from a particular perspective, have also sought to explain the role of Qur’an recitation in human individual and social life; however, it is not possible to address all of these views in a single study. Accordingly, the present research, with a focus on the views of the martyred Supreme Leader, seeks to answer the following main question: What worldly and otherworldly effects and consequences does Qur’an recitation, from the perspective of the martyred Supreme Leader, have in human life? This study was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method and a transmitted-revelatory approach, and its data were collected through library research and note-taking. The findings indicate that, from the perspective of the Holy Qur’an as the most comprehensive source of human guidance and felicity and as a divine covenant between God and His servants, its recitation paves the way for familiarity with the Qur’an, the penetration of divine concepts into hearts, and practical benefit from its teachings. The results of the study show that Qur’an recitation, in addition to its foundational role in establishing Qur’anic values in society, brings about such worldly effects as the illumination of the heart, the strengthening of moral virtues, the increase of knowledge, and the attraction of divine love. In the hereafter, it also leads to salvation in the stations of the Day of Judgment, intercession, and the guidance of human beings toward Paradise.
