Abstract
Abstract The issue of the infallibility of Imam has a special place in the science of theology, and it has been mentioned in several verses of the Quran, one of which is verse 35 of Surah Yunus (known as the “Verse of Guidance”). The purpose of this article is to explain Imam’s infallibility in the light of this verse. Shiite exegetists have different explanations regarding the imam’s infallibility under this honorable verse. The present article, while explaining the exegetists’ point of view, has explained their opinions according to the corresponding verses. This article, which was written with a descriptive-analytical method to explain and analyze the viewpoints of both Shiite and Sunni exegetists, has reached the following conclusion: based on various reasons, the Shiite viewpoint, according to the implication of verse 35 of Surah Yunus on the Imam’s infallibility, is preferable and defensible.
